Best in Texas Magazine + Texas Music Chart Creator Ed Shane Has Passed Away

Texas Music Chart, and Best in Texas Magazine creator Shane Smith passed away on Saturday, March 21, following a short battle with colon cancer.

Ed Shane is well known and respected in radio, and especially in the Texas Music scene. His extensive radio career also included Program Director at Talker KTRH/HOUSTON (1980-84), and he most recently ran the BEST IN TEXAS MAGAZINE and spearheaded the ALL ACCESS TEXAS MUSIC CHART and TEXAS MUSIC SECTION.

Shane and his wife, Pam, had just made public his illness less than a month ago. Ed was reportedly placed into hospice care earlier this week.
