'Texas Music' is a very blanket term for the "genre", including Red Dirt, Americana, Folk and Rock influences to name a few. If you would like to expand your 'Texas Music' collection outside of straight up country, look no further! Here's a few artists, in no particular order, that you should jam to:

1. Quaker City Nighthawks

These Dallas/Fort Worth natives are pretty groovy. Although they are not your typical 'Red Dirt' artists, they are under the 'Texas Music' umbrella, and still need a good listenin' to.

It is quite possible I am addicted to their current single 'The Only Drug' - you would probably be better off if you went to download it right now. They produce straight up good music. And they're good people.

These cool dudes are the perfect combination of folk, rock, and Americana. They recently released their second album, Gold Boots - although I still recommend giving their first record Portraits a listen.

To be honest, his album cover for West Texas Vernacular freaked me out the first time I saw it. But once I heard him live I had to have it in my hands immediately. He's witty and simple. I love it.

For those of you looking for some music that hits closer to home, check out this guy. Some of his tunes will take you back to the old country.
