Today the world lost a legend. After several years of health problems, Guy Clark passed away this morning (May 17) at age 74.

Clark left an indelible mark in Country music having written once-in-a-generation songs such as "L.A. Freeway" and "Desperados Waiting for a Train".

Artists including Johnny Cash, David Allan Coe, Vince Gill, Ricky Skaggs, Steve Wariner, Hayes Carll, Brad Paisley, John Denver, Alan Jackson, Rodney Crowell, The Highwaymen, and Kenny Chesney have recorded Clark's songs.

Despite never finding much commercial success as a solo performer, Clark reached legend status among his peers, influencing many of country music's biggest acts. Vince Gill called him the greatest storyteller of all. Miranda Lambert once told ABC “Desperados Waiting for a Train” is her all-time favorite song.
