Two legends of Country music will receive be recognized by the state of Texas. Come February 22nd, Kenny Rogers and Kris Kristofferson will receive the Texas Medal of the Arts at a ceremony in Austin.

The award celebrates artists and entertainers from Texas that have and continue to embody the Texas spirit. Past awards recipients include Willie Nelson, Charley Pride and Lyle Lovett.

Rogers will receive the Texas Medal of the Arts Lifetime Achievement Award, recognizing his career success as a crossover artist, and Kristofferson’s Multimedia Award will honor his illustrious career as an actor, singer and songwriter.
