Apparently it didn't take the first time around, as this week The Redneck Messiah christened one of Country Music’s most popular acts an Honorary Texan, for the second time. You may recall Kevin Fowler first performed the induction ceremony last August in Houston.

Turns out the first time he didn't go through all the right channels. This time, though, Fowler informed the crowd that he has been hanging out with the governor, who allowed the Amarillo native to put the Dierks Bentley becoming an honorary Texan to a vote.

The San Antonio crowd voted unanimously in favor of it.

To make it official Fowler gave Bentley some Whataburger (half eaten), a Cavenders shirt (but he kept it), and a Bucc-ees shirt… so, yeah, now Dierks is now an Honorary Texan.
