Legendary Western Swing Guitarist, Tommy Allsup, in ICU

World-renowned Western swing guitarist Tommy Allsup, who is the father of recent NBC The Voice contestant Austin Allsup, is in intensive care and the Allsup family is asking for your prayers.

The Elder Allsup, an Oklahoma native, played in Buddy Holly’s band and is also known for giving up his seat on the ill fated plane that crashed and killed Holly, J.P. “The Big Bopper” Richardson and Ritchie Valens in 1959. You may recall the story of Allsup losing a coin toss for a seat on the plane to Valens.
