Our Top 21 Most Favorite Texas and Red Dirt Songs of ’17

It's November! That means we've heard all the radio singles that will be released in 2017 -- well, there'll probably be a few more, but we'll be on vacation then. So let's do it, our annual favorite Texas and Red Dirt singles of the year.

It was only after careful deliberation we settled on our criteria for our list of Favorite Texas and Red Dirt Singles of '17. We decided our list shall be comprised of songs or singles that have been played, at least once, on Radio Texas, LIVE! since December of '16. And while we tried to focus more on actual radio singles, there is an exception or two.

Furthermore, chart position had little (absolutely nothing) to do with our list -- and a couple of the songs that made our list actually never even made it into our regular rotation. Why? Good question

Well, as much as we'd love to, we just don't have the room to break every awesome new song and artist. We have a measly five hours to fill each week.

Unlike the priorities of most radio programming, Radio Texas, LIVE!  has prided itself in being part of the discovery process for music.

This being true, we still gotta play the "hits."

And all cards on the table, "hits" from bands such as Josh Abbott Band, Cody Johnson, Turnpike Troubadours, three of Texas and Red Dirt's most popular acts, are so disregarded by radio, people ought to be in jail for it. It's a tough balancing act.

So here they are, Our Top 21 Most Favorite Texas and Red Dirt Songs of '17, numerically because countdowns are so aesthetically pleasing.
