Everyone needs a certain appreciation for the classics – those songs that inspired the Texas and Nashville tunes we hear today. There was a certain honesty in songwriting back in the day that deserves to be recognized and remembered.

Ernest Tubb is most remembered as "The Texas Troubadour" - a true pioneer of honky tonk country music. Tubb worked tirelessly as a youth and throughout adulthood at several jobs, making ends meet so that he could pursue his love for music - which proved itself worthy in 1999 when he was inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Check out this 1948 Ernest Tubb hit, "Blue Christmas," made famous before Elvis Presley.

If you're ever passing through "Cowtown" -- aka Fort Worth -- be sure to stop by the Ernest Tubb Record Shop, founded by Tubb himself!
