Everyone needs a certain appreciation for the classics – those songs that inspired the Texas and Nashville tunes we hear today. There was a certain honesty in songwriting back in the day that deserves to be recognized and remembered.

George Jones - one of the greatest assets to country music history. Need I say more? His crisp voice and thoughtful phrasing is something many can only try to mimic today.

'Love Bug' was one of the few hits that came out of the 1960s, a decade of decline in his career, before his comeback in the '80s. Regardless, Jones always defended the integrity of country music up until his last years:

"It's never been for love of money. I thank God for it because it makes me a living. But I sing because I love it, not because of the dollar signs."

And you can take that to the bank.
