BAD LUCK: Texas Man Picks The Absolute Worst Time To Run From Cops
An East Texas Man Is In Jail After Taking Off On Cops, Not Realizing That He Picked A Very Bad Time To Decide To Run.
There's an old saying: If it wasn't for bad luck, I wouldn't have any luck at all. A man from Texarkana is learning that hard way after he decided to take off on cops while just a few blocks away a LOT of cops and doggie cops were nearby.
The Texarkana Police Department Shared The Details On Its Facebook Page.
According to the post, Texarkana Officer Jordan Starkey noticed Cody Dillard walking along South Lake Drive and knew that he had a felony warrant. When Starkey turned around to talk to him, Dillard immediately took off running and quickly disappeared.
Here's where the story gets crazy because what Dillard didn’t count on was that there were about 25 police K9 teams participating in the Region 20 USPCA (United States Police Canine Association) trials nearby at Grady T. Wallace Park.
That's right a K-9 police dog competition was happening not too far from where Dillard decided to take off.
Texas Parks and Wildlife Game Warden David McMillen and his K9 partner Jake offered to go there to help find Dillard.
Let's just say that it didn't take very long for Jake to find Dillard. After a quick three-minute track, Jake found him trying to hide under a pile of brush about 300 yards from where Starkey had last seen him.
Dillard, who is from Texarkana, was arrested and booked into the Bi-State Jail for his two warrants for Evading Detention, plus yet another Evading charge for his fun run from Jake on Monday.
Texarkana police thanked Game Warden David McMillen and Jake for their help and hopefully, they hooked Jake up with a prize for his work!
