Deryl Dodd Cancels Rest of 2019 Shows to Focus on Cancer Recovery
One of Texas Music's most beloved singer/songwriters will be home recovering the rest of 2019. In September Deryl Dodd was diagnosed with a tumor behind his eye, after going through the radiation treatment he has decided to cancel the rest of his shows for the year and focus on getting well.
From his socials:
Just wanted to let ya'll know we've cancelled the rest of the band shows for this year. I am OK! Healthy and recovering from an eye procedure. Back in late August I started having some flashes of light in my right eye. In September I went to the eye doctor and it turned out there was a tumor behind my eye. It was cancer. I went through a plaque radiation treatment and so far so good. All is well. I'm just taking some time to recover and regroup. I've been touring and making music for a lot of years. It's a rough and tumble job. Long hours, late nights, lots of stress behind the scenes. It's not a real healthy life style. All this to say... Music will always be a part of my life. This shook me to my core. I'm taking some much needed time for myself. I can't tell you how blessed and Thankful I am for the life I've been given. I need to take care of me and my immediate family and close circle of friends right now.
Change is good ! I'm embracing all of this in a really positive way. It's something I've needed to do for a long time and GOD has a way of paving the road we walk. Looking forward to this journey. LOVE ALL OF YOU SO MUCH. dd
Get well, DD!
