Hank Williams Jr. Set to Return to ESPN’s ‘Monday Night Football’
ESPN is bringing Hank Williams Jr. back to “Monday Night Football.”
“Are You Ready for Some Football?” had been a staple on Monday night since 1989. The song is based on his monster hit, "All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over Tonight."
You may recall that ESPN and Hank broke ties in 2011, after Hank compared then-President Obama to Hitler.
“Hank Williams Jr. fans told us they missed [his theme song]," writes ESPN, "so we’re excited to bring this popular segment back to ESPN for the 2017 NFL season with some new twists.”
An ESPN suit said they expect some backlash, but they’re not worried about it . . . quote, “It’s the right time. We discussed it internally and it was just the right time to bring him back.”
