(Arlington, Texas) Growing up in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, I was fortunate to live in the shadow of one of the world's premier theme parks, Six Flags Over Texas. When I was old enough, I got my first job there. I worked at the park for a decade before landing a gig in radio. During my first year there, I witnessed the debut of a special event that continues today: Fright Fest.

Fright Fest at Six Flags Over Texas Has Returned to Arlington

When it debuted in 1988, Fright Fest was called Fright Night and featured Arania as the central character throughout the park and shows.  The special event drew in thousands of guests every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  Eventually, Fright Night became Fright Fest in 1992 and remains one of the largest Halloween celebrations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

Over the years, Fright Fest has changed and improved.  Six Flags Over Texas has added many new attractions, scare zones, and spooky decorations throughout the park. A few years ago, my daughter, a couple of her friends, and I visited the park, and it brought back so many memories while creating some new ones, along with some unexpected scares and thrills.

What Haunted Mazes Are at Six Flags Fright Fest?

Six Flags Fright Fest is currently underway and features haunted mazes, scare zones, shows, and special events for younger guests. Haunted mazes at Six Flags require a special attraction pass and include admission to 'The Conjuring Universe', 'The Strangers: No Escape', 'SAW: Legacy of Terror', 'EverSmile Industries', and 'Terror at the Polynesian Palm'.

Fright Fest Scare Zones and Live Shows

After sunset, the atmosphere transforms. Pathways in certain parts of the parks become special scare zones. The whole environment of the area is transformed by scary creatures, zombies, clowns, and other wild characters. Guests will be entertained by four special shows, including 'Wake The Dead'.
