Parker McCollum Offers Fan Updates on New Project ‘Probably Wrong: Session One’

Parker McCollum is a member of the talented new crop of young Texas and Red Dirt artists that will soon be tasked with carrying on its legacy. The Austin-based singer/songwriter released his full-length debut album, The Limestone Kid, in February 24 of 2015.

The album was among the strongest debut albums released in Texas in some time. The Austin Chronicle noting at its release "it's too early to declare The Limestone Kid debut of the year, but it's already one to beat."

This week The Limestone Kid updated his fans with a post to his official website, offering up insight into his new three-part album.

This past February (on Valentine’s Day, to be exact), we walked in to Cedar Creek Studio with all of our gear, a stack of songs and Lloyd Maines at the helm. We walked out with a collection of tunes that pretty much sum up what the past year or so has been like for me, personally. The songs are about the messiness of life and love and the road and how sometimes those things don’t jive together. They are about making choices – really hard, gut-wrenching choices – and the worry that comes after about whether it was right or wrong.  Some are songs I’ve been sitting on for a long time. Too long.

Traditionally, once an album is finished, the “process” is just beginning. Analyze, strategize, revise, advertise, criticize…and all of the “please standby’s…” The waiting game is a bitch, I’m not gonna lie. And it works for a whole lot of folks. But for me, for this album, I just wanted to a.)  make the music and b.) release it.  “Release” always seemed like a weird word to use when it came to music but it’s actually pretty spot on. If you look it up (which I did), the #1 definition is “to allow or enable to escape from confinement; set free.” And so that’s what I’m going to do.  ASAP.

Probably Wrong will be released in three pieces. Session One, Session Two and then the full album which will have all the tracks from Sessions One & Two, plus some. Probably Wrong: Session One will be available for pre-order June 16 with “I Can’t Breathe” as an instant download. Session Two will be available later in the summer and the full album will follow in early fall. How’s that for outside the box?

Look at it this way: I get to share some of these new tunes now and you get new music scattered out for the rest of the year. It’s win/win, right? I know there’s gonna be some naysayers out there, some shit-talkers that will say this doesn’t make sense. But I can handle that. Besides, the album isn’t called Probably Wrong for nothin.’
