Prime fishing season will soon be here in Texas. Whether for recreation, sport, or dinner - many fish will be caught in Texas this year.

Texas Parks and Wildlife is predicting that this spring is going to be nearly perfect when it comes to fishing for white bass. As spring approaches these fish will be swimming upstream in the rivers and streams that feed our local lakes to spawn. Males began the trek last month and the females will soon follow.

Where Are Some Of The Best Spots To Catch White Bass In Texas?

  • The Sabine River above Toledo Bend will be the best location to catch white bass this spring.
  • Coming in a close second are the Neches River and Kickapoo Creek above Lake Palestine.
  • You can't go wrong on the banks of Chambers Creek above Richland Chambers Reservoir.
  • Then Peach, Caney, Spring Creeks, and Lucy's Bayou feeding Lake Houston will also be a prime spot.

Texas Parks and Wildlife recommends all anglers check water levels and have the proper flotation devices before entering the water.

What Makes This A Good Year For White Bass Fishing?

Ample rainfall is the major player creating prime conditions and muddying up the water for fish to swim upstream here in East Texas, whereas, Central and South Texas may be less favorable at this time.

Because of this, anglers shouldn't have any problems reeling in the big one, unless you're like me when I was fishing with my grandfather! Cast away from the bank, kayak, paddle boat, or outboard motorboat.

Don't Forget Your Texas Fishing License

You must have a fishing license to fish in the public waters in Texas. There are some exemptions to license requirements. There are several different license packages to choose from. You can purchase your license online or at some sporting goods stores and some big box retailers.
