Everyone needs a certain appreciation for the classics – those songs that inspired the Texas and Nashville tunes we hear today. There was a certain honesty in songwriting back in the day that deserves to be recognized and remembered.

Ricky Nelson, although a rockabilly at heart, is most notable for his love balladsHe found his calling to music the long way after a career in both radio and television, but found it nevertheless:

"It’s a very personal thing, and takes a lot of courage to perform and record your own songs, because you’re always wide open to any criticism. You just have to forget that aspect of it, and go out and do it."

Check out Never Be Anyone Else But You, written by Baker Knight and made famous by Nelson when it hit #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1959.
