Willie Nelson & Kacey Musgraves to Sing ‘Rainbow Connection’ at CMAs
Tomorrow night (Nov. 13) two proud Texans will join forces for what will undoubtedly be a memorable collaboration. Kacey Musgraves and Willie Nelson will sing the classic Muppets song, “Rainbow Connection” at the 2019 CMA Awards Show.
Good Morning America had the announcement, which Musgraves shared on her Instagram. It even featured a throwback video of herself, age 9, singing the song.
The last time Willie performed at the CMAs was when he took home the trophy for the inaugural Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award in 2012, yup it's been 7 years since the legend blessed the awards show with his presence.
“Rainbow Connection” was written by Paul Williams and Kenneth Ascher for the 1979 film The Muppet Movie, and sung by Kermit, who was voiced by Jim Henson. "The Rainbow Connection" reached No. 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. Nelson famously recorded the song and included it on his 2001 album Rainbow Connection.
The CMAs air Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at 7:00 PM CST.
