Headed up by Casey Donahew and Josh Abbott the Texas scene accepted the challenge, and cleared several teacher’s back-to-school lists over the weekend.

After hopping on board, Casey and Melinda Donahew quickly realized that the need for school supplies was bordering on overwhelming. They were bombarded with requests from Texas teachers (approximately 5,000) asking for help with clearing their school supplies lists. So they decided to do something about it.

The requests have become so numerous that the Donahews started a Go Fund Me account with the hope of helping as many teachers as possible. Internet celebrity Jeffree Star, answered the call, stepping up big and donating $25,000 to the GoFundMe account -- and he encouraged his 5 million followers to help.

As of this morning, a little over $38,000 of the $50,000 goal has been reached, though Melinda says this goal is still not enough to fill all of the requests that they have received. And more requests are rolling in.

According to a press release "This cause has a soft spot for the Donahew’s particularly for the special needs classrooms which do not have basic supplies, decorations and in some cases desks. Teachers are also asking for money for snacks to feed the low-income students who are on free and reduced meal plans, but do not have snacks or even food when they go home."

Casey knows first-hand the needs of teachers, before he began his career in music, he was an Algebra teacher. CLICK HERE TO DONATE.
