With all the buzz around Cross Canadian Ragweed this week (click here to get caught up), folks speculating about a reunion, perhaps a reunion album, what's Koe Wetzel got to do with it?

Maybe nothing, but maybe it was his song that set into motion the chain of events that led us here. We all miss Ragweed like Koe and that girl do.

In early 2020, our pal Kasey James at The PlayList sat down for a conversation with Red Dirt legend, Cody Canada. The two covered a lot of ground including Canada's stance on one of Texas' brightest burning stars.

Koe Wetzel's rise, his band's swagger, and their undeniable popularity have drawn comparisons to Cross Canadian Ragweed, and Cody certainly sees it. "The not giving a sh*t, but giving a sh*t," Cody says his band did it, and Koe is doing it. "You guys act like you don't care, but you really do... I endorse everything he does. I'm proud of him."

"Everybody had really finally stopped asking me about when the band was going to get back together, then he put out that f*cking song," Canada says laughing. "No, I like the song. It's an honor."

In the interview Canada also discusses the weight of being the tribute artist at MusicFest this year, "I watched Robert Earl (Keen) be the tribute artist 12, 13 years ago and he said 'I don't feel old enough for this,' and that's exactly how I feel."
