Post Malone’s Risky Country Cover Wins Over the Internet
Post Malone has all but taken over the country music scene with his new country-leaning music and his captivating covers of some classic songs from the genre. He once again wowed the internet with his sincere love for Music City with his cover of George Strait's "Carrying Your Love With Me."
Covering the King of Country Music is no small feat.
The moment came during Malone's set at the Spotify House showcase during the 2024 CMA Fest. He took a moment to strum on his guitar and sing an acoustic version of Strait's pining love song.
His stripped down version won over the crowd as they sang along to every word, but it also wowed the internet with many jumping into the TikTok comments section to share their praise.
"The Post Malone Country Era we didn't know we needed," a fan writes.
"Omg his voice just melts my heart," another shares.
"I am SOOOO here for Posty's country era," an additional fan types.
"This man... it just keeps getting better and better," one shares. "Now he's covering an iconic Strait song!"
"I didn’t know I needed a Post Malone country album, but I really do! Before this country era for him I could not name [one] Post Malone song," another adds.
Not Everyone Loves Country Post Malone
While the majority of the comments were positive, there were some negative remarks.
"I thought we needed country Posty, I was wrong," one chimes in.
"Please let George sing that song!!!" someone writes.
"So basically he's become a professional karaoker, got it," another comment reads.
What's Next in Post Malone's Country Era?
After releasing his smash hit "I Had Some Help" featuring Morgan Wallen, Malone has been teasing a new collaboration with yet another country song. He and Blake Shelton have been in the studio together and it appears they have a music video in the works as well.
"On set with @blakeshelton," he writes alongside a video of both artists singing an acoustic version of their song.
In our recent interview with Jelly Roll, the "Son of a Sinner" singer shared his thoughts on Posty's foray into country music.
"This has been his heart. We all forget that Post Malone broke on Youtube singing Bob Dylan songs before 'White Iverson.'" Jelly shared. "He's just making it to where his heart is. I've hung out with that guy, he's one of the best dudes on Earth, the sweetest soul on Earth."
He also dropped some piping hot tea while talking about Post, but you'll have to check out the full interview to see what that was.
