In 2018 the legendary singer was honored was recognized as that year's recipient of Texas A&M’s Distinguished Alumnus Award, considered the highest honor given to a former student of the university. In January '19 Keen was inducted into The Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame during a ceremony at the World’s Largest Honky-Tonk, Billy Bob’s Texas in Fort Worth, Texas.
That same year the Texas icon launched Americana Podcast: The 51st State. His podcast is a platform dedicated to sharing and expanding the Americana genre's roots, reach, and definition. Each episode is told from the point of view of the musicians that have dedicated their lives to it.
