It might only be October, but the planning has already been in full force for the third annual Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival

The festival announced Monday (Oct. 5) that the 2016 edition of Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival will return to the brick streets of Downtown Tyler on Saturday, May 14.

Red Dirt had previously announced a date of April 30, but decided to change the date to accommodate its headliner.

The festival will announce the headliner and the rest of the lineup some time around early February 2016, right before tickets go on sale.

Red Dirt BBQ & Music Festival features the best in Texas barbecue and music, bringing in celebrated barbecue joints from all over Texas and packing the stage with the best Texas and Red Dirt music money can buy.

The festival has sold out both years with more than 4,000 in attendance each year. Randy Rogers Band headlined the first year with Whiskey Myers, Green River Ordinance and The Bigsbys supporting. The 2015 event featured headliner Josh Abbott, Stoney LaRue, Kyle Park, Uncle Lucius and The Bigsbys.
