Everyone needs a certain appreciation for the classics – those songs that inspired the Texas and Nashville tunes we hear today. There was a certain honesty in songwriting back in the day that deserves to be recognized and remembered:

And I'd trade all my tomorrows for a single yesterday

It just doesn't get much better than that.

'Me and Bobby McGee' has been recorded by several artists over the years, and was made famous by Janis Joplin, but the original came from this guy, right here. Many of Kristofferson's best songs, including this hit, were written on an oil rig down in Louisiana, after leaving his hometown of Brownsville, TX… we all know there isn't much of a music career in Brownsville, so I don't blame him.

Kris Kristofferson has brought so much goodness to our music genre, and worked long and hard for it too. His name will never be forgotten in country music history.
