He fronted Cross Canadian Ragweed, the biggest band to ever come hit the Red Dirt scene. Hell, they really helped to create it. In the process he's inspired a new generation of singers and songwriters. Today, Cody Canada is undoubtedly one of the most influential Red Dirt voices of-all-time. Here he explains his latest project, "Some Old, Some New, Maybe A Cover or Two."

"It's been 19 years of writing music and driving own the highway," says Canada. "I did 10 record with Ragweed and now two with the Departed. And I really wanted people to know where it started for me and where it is now."

"... I hope people just understand what kinda person I am. I've never done anything like this -- with just my name on it -- I'm a band guy. With the changes that's happened the last few years, I think it was probably time to do something like this."

Cody Canada and the Departed just wrapped on a 33 shows in 35 days (or some ridiculous amount of shows around there) northwest tour with American Aquarium. And the guys are already heading back out. That's where they'll be the next two weeks, below, If you can make it out to a show.
