HEAR NOW: Cross Canadian Ragweed’s ‘Highway 377′ CD Release Show From 2001
At the time of this recording George W. Bush was a week away from becoming the 43rd POTUS. It was the year we met Shrek and Donkey, XFL was nearly a thing, you were probably still watching TRL on MTV, Tina Fey and Jimmy Fallon were hosting "Weekend Update" on SNL, and Ragweed ruled the Texas / Red Dirt scene.
Hard to believe two decades have passed. Last week Shannon Canada shared this audio gem (dated January 13th, 2001), from Ragweed's Highway 377 album release party with special guest Jason Boland and the Stragglers.
A great moment in time. Take an hour and fifteen minutes, maybe slide on some headphones if you've got 'em, earbuds if you don't, and take it all in. Just take it all in.
The Years, A MusicFest Tribute to Cody Canada and the Music of Cross Canadian Ragweed, is out now and boasts 17 Cody Canada and Ragweed songs sung by the likes of Randy Rogers, Stoney LaRue, Reckless Kelly, Casey Donahew, Wade Bowen, and many more of Texas' best.
