There's just something special about his voice. When I met Jonathan Terrell in 2011 he was fronting a hard-core country band called the Heartache Tycoons. Since then he has set his country music aspirations to the side to pursue rock-n-roll dreams, with Not in the Face.

Since it's inception, NITF, has been a mainstay in the Austin rock scene, garnering accolades upon accolades in the Live Music Capital of the World. Their brand of rock has taken them from Texas across the USA, and back.

And they've been successful.

But for me, at least, JT moaning solid gold, broken-hearted, country songs is something very very special -- as his cover of the great Kristofferson song demonstrates.

Word is Terrell may soon be picking back up the country music (although, now, just as the side-chick to NITF). I hope he does.
