Country Music Legend Recovers From Heart Surgery
Country music legend Mel Tillis is recovering from an open heart surgery performed this past weekend. Although his next four shows have been cancelled, Tillis should be making a full recovery soon. His daughter, singer/songwriter Pam Tillis, released a statement this morning:
”Over the weekend, Daddy required a routine heart procedure. He’s doing fantastic and is expected to make a full recovery. In typical Mel Tillis fashion, he’s already cutting up and cracking jokes with the nurses. Your thoughts and prayers are appreciated.”
Tillis is well-known as a successful songwriter, having written top hits for George Strait, Waylon Jennings, Randy Travis and many more. Despite having a stutter, he has also successfully recorded more than 60 albums with 35 top ten singles, including These Lonely Hands of Mine.
We wish Tillis good health and a steady recovery!
