It's always great to have Clayton Gardner stop by the KEAN 105 studios. Last time he was in town, he paid a visit during the St. Jude Children's Hospital Radiothon and offered his help to raise funds for sick children. This time, Gardner stopped by on his way to a show (and brought the whole, road-weary band), just to say "hi" and share the latest news with us.

The first portion of our conversation included the Texas Country singer catching us up on what he's been up to. He told us that he and the band are putting the finishing touches on a new CD, which is expected to be released this fall. The first single, 'Something About You' is already finished and ready for airplay, so I had Gardner give us the lowdown on the new tune. "It's about a guy walking into a bar and seeing a good looking young lady, and she's kinda down on her luck...it's kinda about how I would be if I saw somebody in that situation. I think life's too short to be down...let's have a beer, go dancing and have a good time. That's really what that song's about, just having a good time.".

Here's the great new song from Clayton. Take a listen.

In the second part of the interview, Gardner shared some exclusive information with us about his newest project. "We're doing seven songs, and it's called 'Lucky 7's', nobody really knows that. We're re-cutting 'Table For Two' which is a waltz that I wrote...there's a song that I wrote with my good friend Mr. Brandon Rhyder on there called 'Old Fashioned Love Song'. It's a beautiful song. Had a lot of fun writing that one with him...I spent a lot of time picking these seven songs, so hopefully it's a good mix.". Clayton also played a song for us in studio, an old favorite of mine called 'Happy Ending'. Check out the rest of the interview here:

If you want good, pure country music, you'll get it with Clayton Gardner. We're glad he stopped by, and hope he visits again soon! You can track Clayton on his official website, Facebook and Twitter to keep up to date on his latest.
