Let's get real for a moment; no one is going to sing "Silent Night" at a country concert, not at one in a honky tonk. Don't get me wrong, it's a good song and all, super Christmas-sy, but a real downer at a live show. Robert Earl Keen's "Merry Christmas From the Family" on the other hand, it's a game changer.

Back in 2018, when you could catch a live show five nights a week, Cody Cannon of Whiskey Myers covered the Texas-Christmas standard during an acoustic set at Hank's. We thought that you might enjoy watching it today.

Despite the downs of a world-wide pandemic this year, there were a few bright spots for Whiskey Myers. Back in September, two singles from Southern rockers were Certified Gold by the RIAA. “Ballad of a Southern Man” from their 2011 album Firewater, and "Stone" off of their 2016 release Mud were both certified Gold for reaching over 500,000 units in sales, downloads, and streaming equivalents.

And just over one year ago, when the guys released their self-titled and self-produced album, Whiskey Myers, they landed the No. 1 album in country music. In one week the East Texas rockers raked in 42,000 equivalent album units moved, of that a remarkable 39,000 were in album sales. Helluva week for the guys.
