Uncle Lucius Unveil Video for ‘Don’t Own the Right’
If the motto for Austin, Texas, is "Keep Austin Weird," the motto for South Austin, Texas, is "Keep South Austin Weirder." At least that's the case in Uncle Lucius' new video for "Don't Own the Right."
Premiered earlier today by Glide Magazine, the video is in support of the latest single off Uncle Lucius' newest album, "The Light," released in June.
It's a song of self-reflection and acceptance of your true self and those around you with no judgment. Or, as Uncle Lucius better explained it on their Facebook page:
From the exhumed remains of an abortive South Austin time capsule, hidden camera footage reveals the secret lives of aristocratic transients living underneath the awning at Uncle Lucius headquarters. It’s a twisted tale, a fable full of bizarre rituals. Authorities confirm that one chicken fisherman, an alcoholic bumblebee, and one feline seductress are being sought for questioning. Fresh from the VHS section of the South Austin Salvation Army, we certainly hope you enjoy ‘Don’t Own the Right!'”
And you can't forget about the cameo from Shinyribs front man Kevin Russell. This video is Uncle Lucius in their truest form.
Uncle Lucius is in the midst of a national tour. After shows at iconic Texas venues such as Gruene Hall (Aug. 22 with Hayes Carll) and Cheatham Street Warehouse (Aug. 29), they'll hit much of the southeast and midwest before returning to Texas in late September.
